The words of Jesus can become so familiar to us that we can overlook the original effect that they must have had on those who originally heard him: shock, discomfort and anger must have been common responses to some of the more startling and radical things that Jesus said. They certainly were common responses among the Pharisees.
It is worth reflecting on this question: who is better off, the person who understands Jesus' words and walks away or the person who says he loves Jesus but explains away all his hard teaching?
This presentation is made to put pictures to Jesus' words to encourage reflection on just how scandalous they really are.
